A true single vineyard wine, hand picked from the Peglidis vineyard just north of the Watervale township. Not well known for Chardonnay, the 2017 vintage in Clare was cool and protracted, the lower average harvest temperatures allowing the fruit to ripen slowly, elevating the wines elegance, flavour intensity and natural acid retention. Flavours of cut grass, lemon rind, hazelnut and sweet melon characters beautifully balanced and supported by six months spent in a combination of small French oak casks. Twice weekly bâtonnage (lees stirring) further increasing the wines complexity, texture and appeal. A very fresh example of the variety with at least 15 years cellaring potential to look forward to.
