A 100% single vineyard wine from our Woodvale vineyard that lies beneath Mount Oakden in the Skilly, this cool and easterly facing block reflects a very unique terroir within the Clare Valley. Dry grown and completely hand pruned and hand harvested, it can be picked over a month later than our Watervale vineyards. Leaner in style with a tightly wound core of natural acidity, the palate and aroma both feature green apples, pome fruits and lemon zest in a long and linear expression of the variety. Cellaring potential of well over twenty years.

The Skilly 2016 has all the expected Clare riesling traits with great apple and lemon, and an attractive gingery spice.

Woodvale is the personal wine project of noted winemaker Kevin Mitchell.
Excellent flavour here though quite a lot of spritz too, almost to a distracting degree. Lemon, lime and blossoms of the two. Almost a lemonade character here. It’s fluid, even generous, though it’s dry and well-sustained to close. If you open a bottle now give it a quick double-decant.
